Therapet Gathering at “Dogs Day Out” – Cairngorm National Park

August 3, 2019

CCST Marquee made its way up to the Cairngorm National Park for a PR event “Dogs Day Out” and volunteer get together, supporting local CCST area representative Margaret Ewing and the local volunteers in the area of Badenoch & Strathspey.

Margaret and her team did a great job of raising awareness of our Therapet visits and had the usual fundraising events of hook a duck, guess the doggies (a toy dog) name and an unusual way of trying to win a locally brewed Beveridge from the area. A very clear liquid!!! All in all £54.50p was raised and importantly people visiting the area got to know about CCST and what our Therapets do!

Additional great support on the day took the shape of other surrounding CCST Area Representatives: Maureen Thomson from Elgin and Stewart Donald from Inverness. Also our newly appointed Support and Development Officer Mel Hughes who was paying a visit to the area as well. Mel entered her Therapet Ollie, a Rough Collie in “best male dog” and came first in the novelty classes that were running throughout the day. We were lucky to have a mixed day of sunshine with a few showers, but it did not dampen the enthusiasm of the event.

Margaret’s volunteers next event is Abernethy Dog Show at Nethy Bridge Community Hall on Sunday 29th September, so if you are in the area come in and say hello.

The Badenoch & Strathspey annual "Stepping Out for Scotland" sponsored walk for CCST is on Saturday 19th October; this year at Loch an-Eilein, 10am for 10.30 start. By kind permission of the Rothiemurchus Estate Management, free parking for those taking part that morning. Sponsor forms are available, walk as far as you like. A circuit of the Loch is not expected..!!
