Dementia Awareness Week - Kilwinning

People living with dementia in Largs and surrounding area were urged to take part in a special Dementia Awareness Week event at Ayrshire College in Kilwinning on Friday 30th May. This was an excellent opportunity for people living with dementia, in North Ayrshire, to participate in this highly interactive event.

Linda Whitby from Canine Concern Scotland Trust explained all about the work the Trust carries out through the Therapet visiting service and she brought along some Therapet dogs to meet the people.

Other dogs that help people in the community also attended the event were Medical Detection dogs and Medical Alert assistance dogs.

The Ayrshire College students got involved with dog themed games and activities, and made sure everyone got a cup of tea and a biscuit.

Anyone living with dementia or memory loss is invited to come along and participate in Dog Days. Guests can enjoy dog themed activities, as well as tea and snacks.
