Reading With Dogs & Bannockburn Primary School

On Friday 20th November our Trustee and Stirlingshire Area Representative, Lynsey Thomson met with some of the teaching staff at Bannockburn Primary School about the Trusts 'Reading with Dogs' programme. Head Teacher, Audrey Ross had contacted Lynsey after hearing about the work that the Trust had been doing with libraries within the Stirlingshire area. The meeting was very productive and it is hoped that a pilot programme will be starting in the New Year. If successful, it is hoped that this project will be the start of a new partnership between the Trust and Bannockburn Primary School and will help disengaged or struggling readers find a new enjoyment in books. After all, US President, Barack Obama once said "Reading is important. If you know how to read then the whole world opens up to you”.
