EK Hangout Raises Funds for CCST

It may rely on its own fundraising and donations but East Kilbride Hangout Club does not believe that charity begins at home.

When its members took part in a sponsored walk they happily donated half the proceeds to a fellow charity.

And Canine Concern Scotland collected a bumper cheque for £400 from the East Kilbride Club for young adults with disabilities.

The money will help the charity fund its Therapet Service, which sees volunteers and their pets visit hospitals, day centres, nursing homes and special needs schools. The pets provide companionship and put smiles on people’s faces.

When the charity heard the Hangout Club wanted to raise money to help with its work Therapet volunteer John Kerr from East Kilbride, joined them on their walk – and JJ was happy to pad along too.

John was not only delighted to take JJ on the sponsored walk but also took him along to the cheque presentation at Calderglen High School, where the Hangout Club meet every Monday.

He said: “It was lovely to join the club members. They were really pleased to see JJ. “It was so kind of them to make such a great donation to our charity.”
