Guild Ladies Get Some Therapet

Members of Almondbank Trefoil Guild received a very large helping of therapy from Therapets.

Magic a Lurcher, Alfie, a Boxer and Dixie, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, visited the group as part of a talk on its work. Harry Greig, Perthshire Area Representative for Canine Concern Scotland Trust – providers of the Therapet pet visiting service-accompanied by his three dogs gave the group a talk about the work of the charity and the role it fulfils working with people in care and also providing educational visits to schools.

One of the members informed Harry that for most of her life she had been very uncomfortable in the presence of dogs, but managed to overcome her concerns with a little help thanks to the visit.

She felt able to hold the lead of Alfie the Boxer and then proceeded to stroke him.

Helping people with dog phobia is also one of the roles undertaken by volunteers and their Therapets.

Therapets is active throughout Scotland and currently number approximately 600 and include dogs of all types, large and small, pure breeds and cross breeds.
