Therapet Fudge laps up attention

July 29, 2011

Meet Fudge the Labrador and her owner Jan Bell. The pair visit Kintyre Nursing Home and Auchinlee, both in Campbeltown, for Therapet which gives people in homes a chance to spend time with a pet.

“Some people don’t like dogs but others really miss having a dog and look forward to our visits,” Jan said. “I enjoy meeting and talking with everyone, too”. And Fudge just laps up all the attention.

The charity is currently looking to recruit more members and their pets to help visit people at homes or in their homes and Jan visited the Campbeltown Pet Show on Kinloch Green last Saturday to drum up support.

Therapet is a service provided through the Canine Concern Scotland Trust Charity that is based in and run from Machrihanish. The charity has 500 active Therapets and their owners in Scotland from Shetland down to the Borders with 19 area representatives who look after the volunteers in their areas.

Therapet also runs a education programme for schools.
